The Cyril Callister Museum will celebrate Vegemite's official 103rd birthday with an afternoon of Australian art, humor, nostalgia and storytelling featuring renowned illustrator and animator Peter Viska.
Renowned Australian illustrator Peter Viska comes to Beaufort for the first exhibition of original artwork and etchings from the much-loved All Right Vegemite! and Far Out, Brussel Sprout! era. Peter will be special guest for the launch of the All Right, Vegemite! Exhibition, celebrating the much-loved children's books that captured the cheeky language of Australian playgrounds during the 1980s.
His collaboration with acclaimed folklorist Dr June Factor AM began with Far Out, Brussel Sprout! in 1983, followed by All Right, Vegemite! in 1985 and Unreal, Banana Peel! in 1986. June collected and preserved Australian children's chants, rhymes and jokes while Peter brought them vividly to life with his wonderfully energetic illustrations.
Visitors will hear Peter share stories from more than five decades in illustration and animation, view original artwork, meet him and have books personally signed.
