Sunnyside Specials

Sunnyside cocktails at Roy Hammond

The inaugural edition of Sunnyside is finally here, with acclaimed UK artist Morag Myerscough transforming the historic Ballarat Mining Exchange into a nature-inspired wonderland.

While you're in town, don't miss these super special (and delicious!) collabs created just for the occasion. Like the exhibition, these delicious treats will only be in town until 23 November, so catch 'em while you can.

Naomi & i may be known for their queue-worthy baked goods (think cookie pies by Mrs Browne Bakes and scrolls Fresh Baked by Josh), but they're also specialty drink legends. Fresh from their creative lab, the Hey Sunny is a red velvet cloud foam matcha inspired by Morag Myerscough’s palette.

The Turret Cafe & Bakehouse is dishing up Sunnybank Farm eggs on sourdough toast as well as The Sunnyside, a sun-shaped pastry with lemon curd centre and marmalade brush with pink icing sun points.

Renard's The Sunchaser features Australian white rum, clarified lime and sugar. Garnished with playful edible fruit paints that alter the taste of the drink. This special drink gradually combines native strawberry gum and river mint into a kaleidoscope of complimentary flavours.

Kilderkin Distillery's fruity and fresh Sunnyside Sip is made with Larrikin Buccaneer gin, Larrikin Backyard Limoncello, Backyard Arancello, tonic and bitters. Garnished with fresh fruit.

On Saturday 8 & 15 November, Kilderkin will host Chatter & Cheers, where you can pair their Sunnyside cocktail with a delightful social afternoon of art and conversation.

Roy Hammond brings you two new cocktails topped with a fairy floss cloud.

The Cotton Sunshine (pictured on the left) features Grainery Lane vanilla vodka, Pavan, passionfruit yuzu syrup, lemon juice, egg whites and simple syrup.

The Sunset Cloudburst (the delight on the right) brings together Grainery Lane strawberry gin, strawberry puree, cranberry juice, lime juice and egg whites.

Every Friday during Sunnyside, Hop Temple will host Hop into the Sun — think bright, funky music plus happy hour drinks at this hidden laneway bar. And don't miss the Sunnyside transformation of the ever-photogenic Hop Lane while you are there.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
