Serge Daeffler left us nearly 3 years agoin the hands of cancer. This display is aretrospective of an artist devoted to hiscraft. He was a master of his medium (Oil)and his aim was to master the magic oflight, which he believed, on his death bed,he had achieved. He sold less than hemade. He came from Europe and buriedhimself in the Australian bush.

Chris Moule has been painting all his life, being the son of an artist. He lives andbreathes creativity with music, song andvisual art. His mediums include oil, watercolour, acrylic and pen and ink, hismost distinctive and memorable medium. He is a realist artist who aims to createthe exactness and fineness of what he islooking at the same time as he attemptsto capture the soul of the moment.

Viv Pells has been painting for the last 27years. Artwork is a wonderful means ofturning off the outside world and lookinginto the soul of the object or scene beingcaptured. Observation is the key to all theartwork she undertakes beyond the simplephysical shapes she copies. Watercolouris her present medium of choice.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
