This play writing workshop will help you to get started or to finesse what you have already. You might have written plays already or be a first timer. You might have a script ready to go, or just the hint of an idea. You might even lack ideas completely.

With Creswick's 12-Minute Plays Festival script deadline coming up, this might be your best chance to polish your ideas into a script for production.

During this workshop, you will advance your ideas or script draft with the help of James and other writers. Together, you will look at established scripts, how to make plots and characters work, and share the creative experience of writing a 12-minute play.

You'll receive a useful workbook with handy tips for your play writing and structured activities to progress beyond the workshop. And you'll meet lots of other people with a passion for taking their stories onto the stage.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
