Knights clashing with flaming swords, snow queens and winter magic - Knights of Fire returns to Kyral Castle during the July school holidays.

This icy spectacular is part of the annual Ballarat Winter Festival and offers an epic program of winter wonders and medieval action. Cosy up with a mulled wine or a hot chocolate made by our braziers and watch knights battle with fiery swords, or join them in training with an axe, sword or bow. Experience the thrill of live jousting as knights clash in action-packed battles, watch live performances at the Jester's Theatre, transform into your favourite character at the face painting station, or brew magical potions. You may even meet some magical princesses, wizards and regal royalty while exploring the Castle grounds.

Looking for somewhere to stay while you are in the area? Turn your visit into a medieval sleepover at Kryal Castle. There are plenty of accommodation options including Castle rooms, cabins, tiny homes, and campsites.

Visit the Kryal Castle website to secure your spot and plan your winter school holidays.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.

©️ 2025 Visit Ballarat. This initiative is funded by the City of Ballarat and Tourism Midwest Victoria.
