What actually happens to you when your hearts break? Not just that bad pop songs start making sense, but what happens to your bodies?

Heartbreak Hotel blends story, science and live synth to explore the highs and lows of love, and what happens inside of you when it all falls apart.

From award-winning New Zealand company EBKM (Yes Yes Yes), this funny and heartfelt show follows one woman navigating heartbreak, from bad Tinder dates to new beginnings. Along the way, she dives into the science of love, chases distraction in Berlin's club scene, and tries (with mixed success) to make sense of it all.

Performed by Karin McCracken, with Simon Leary playing the many faces of exes and friends, it's packed with lo-fi breakup songs, sharp observations, and very relatable moments, like realising you can't overthink your way out of eating tacos alone.

Honest, hilarious and a little bit heartbreaking, this one's for anyone who's ever loved, lost, and started again.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
