Enjoy a slice of Ballarat this August with the return of Ballarat’s Best Pie competition.
Take your pick from more than 35 savoury and sweet pies at some of the city’s top cafes, restaurants and bakeries.
On the menu at Hop Temple is the goat barbacoa pie with jalapeño, lime and cilantro relish and sidewinder fries.
"We were looking to use an unusual protein source and decided that goat was a little less used by many yet still easily approachable for people, while also being easily tied into our TexMex food ethos," chef Claudio Torrentera said.
"We have sourced the goat from our local butcher, Sinclair Meats, minimizing food miles. And all the vegetables used in the pie are also from a local supplier, Peaches Fruit Market."
