Enjoy a slice of Ballarat this August with the return of Ballarat’s Best Pie competition.

Take your pick from more than 35 savoury and sweet pies at some of the city’s top cafes, restaurants and bakeries.

On the menu at Eleanora is a mouth-watering fish pie.

Chef Missam's golden pie is filled with tender white fish and prawns in a lemon-infused cream sauce that's accented with fresh dill.

The pie features two types of house-made pastry—a delicate, sour cream-infused buttery base and a crisp, golden top—creating the perfect contrast in texture.

It's served with smooth Dunnstown potato mash and paired with 2024 Clarnette Chardonnay.

Wanting to create a dish that complements and elevates the chardonnay's flavours, the Eleanora team have crafted a pie that reflects the wine's balance, refinement and character.

Vote and win!

For your chance to win a luxury Ballarat weekend escape for two valued at over $3000, cast your vote for the People’s Choice Pie.

The pie with the most votes will be crowned the winner of this new category in early September.

"The inspiration for this creamy fish and prawn pie begins with a single glass – the 2024 Clarnette Chardonnay from the Pyrenees wine region."

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
