Enjoy a slice of Ballarat this August with the return of Ballarat’s Best Pie competition.
Take your pick from more than 35 savoury and sweet pies at some of the city’s top cafes, restaurants and bakeries.
On the menu at 1816 Bakehouse is butter chicken pie.
Think succulent chicken in a rich and creamy butter chicken sauce, encased in handmade pastry crafted fresh in-house.
"I’ve always loved the bold, warming flavours of Indian cooking — the rich spices and creamy sauces — and spent a long time experimenting to bring those flavours into something truly comforting," baker Matthew Smart said.
"This pie is the result. It’s the kind of thing I’d want on a cold day — simple, hearty and made to bring a smile."
