Ballarat set to shine in new Stan series

Lights, camera, action!

Ballarat is stepping into the spotlight for a new Stan drama series premiering on New Year's Day.

Dear Life tells the story of Ballarat woman Lillian (Brooke Satchwell), whose fiancé Ash (Khisraw Jones-Shukoor) is attacked by an ice addict.

After turning off Ash's life support, Lillian finds comfort in seeking out the recipients of his organs, triggering a tangled chain of connection.

"We loved setting the series in Ballarat," Dear Life creators Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope said.

"Not only does it offer us exquisite scenery and the extraordinary Sovereign Hill, it also lets us showcase a large and thriving regional city."

Dear Life will hit our screens on Stan on Thursday 1 January 2026.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
