The North Star Hotel has been welcoming Ballarat locals and visitors since 1858. More than 160 years later, it remains the kind of neighbourhood pub every town hopes to have, where locals feel at home and visitors quickly do too.

Located just a short walk from Ballarat Railway Station and opposite Quest Apartments, The North Star Hotel is perfectly placed to explore historic Lydiard Street, Ballarat's celebrated galleries, theatres and cultural attractions. Looking for local recommendations? The friendly team is always happy to point visitors towards some of Ballarat's favourite experiences and hidden gems.

Inside, a magnificent indoor tree creates a memorable centrepiece, complementing the warm, relaxed atmosphere that has kept locals returning for generations. Families are well catered for, weekly specials provide another reason to visit, while the menu features generous pub favourites, contemporary dishes, great coffee, and popular takeaway and delivery options.

Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, The North Star Hotel also offers Monday to Friday Happy Hours including $10 plates, and live music every Friday and Sunday. Whether it's a relaxed meal after exploring Ballarat or drinks before a show, The North Star Hotel is the kind of place visitors return to throughout their stay.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
