https://cms.visitballarat.com.au/app/uploads/2024/02/65c30f5c03a9eaec1449f8c3.jpeg

Learn the basics of hand-forming tableware utilising household objects with ceramic artist Minna Graham.

Learn to use your kitchen skills and utensils to make your own tableware. No specialist tools or equipment are required for this method. You will make and decorate a plate, cup and bowl using various hand-forming techniques.

To finish, you will learn to make your own decorative slips and use found and natural materials to decorate your work.

At the end of the workshop, you will come away with a plate, cup and bowl.

At the end of the workshop, you will have created a plate, cup and bowl which will be fired, glazed and delivered to your address a few weeks after the workshop.

Held at Ballarat’s Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events, and residencies.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
