What and when?
White Night Ballarat will be held on Saturday 1 June 2024 from 6pm to midnight.
The free event will transform the city’s streets and buildings through illuminations, projections, music, and interactive works.
All attractions will run for the full duration of the event so there is no need to rush.
More than 40,000 people attended Ballarat’s last White Night in 2019.
Will White Night go ahead in the case of inclement weather?
Rain, hail or shine, the event will proceed unless it is deemed unsafe to do so. Check the weather forecast in advance and come prepared.
Is the event family-friendly?
Yes, White Night is designed for all ages. The event precinct will be busy, so we encourage parents to keep a close eye on younger children.
Is White Night an accessible event?
White Night is an accessible event and welcomes people of all ages, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who are LGBTQIA+ and people who have a lived experience of disability.
The White Night team recognises that the experience of disability and accessibility is diverse and unique to individuals and that artists and audience members still face barriers to access.
They have strived to remove as many barriers to accessibility as they can.
Event and artwork listings on the White Night website show the wheelchair symbol when the venue has been identified as wheelchair accessible, though some spaces may have uneven surfaces.
If the wheelchair symbol is not shown, access may be partial.
Each listing also includes an aural rating and/or visual rating.
Is the event pet-friendly?
No, White Night is not pet-friendly, unless you have a service animal.

Public transport
TRAINS
Regular services will operate from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station to Ballarat.
Regular services will operate from Ballarat to Southern Cross, with two additional services departing Ballarat at 10.23pm and 11.55pm.
Getting to and from Ballarat with Public Transport Victoria
PARK AND RIDE SHUTTLE
From 5.30pm Saturday until 1am Sunday, a free Park and Ride bus shuttle will operate, running express between the Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre and the transport hub at Ballarat Train Station.
It will operate every 30 minutes and passengers can board shuttles from the BALC service lane off Gillies St Nth.
BUSES
Regular coach services will operate to their regular timetable to and from Ballarat.
Additional coaches returning to Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station will depart from the Ballarat Train Station transport hub at 12.30am and 1am.
Getting to and from Ballarat with Public Transport Victoria
Buses in Ballarat will run to their normal timetables.
From 8.30pm Saturday until 1am Sunday, four bespoke free White Night bus routes will operate to and from the Ballarat Railway Station bus terminal (White Night Route 1 to Alfredton/Lucas; White Night Route 2 to Wendouree via Lydiard Street; White Night Route 3 to Black Hill/Brown Hill/Canadian; and White Night Route 4 to Barkly Street via Sebastopol/Delacombe).

Where can I find information during the night?
An information point will be located on the corner of Doveton St Sth and Sturt St. Staff will be on-hand to help with your questions.
For updates throughout the night, keep an eye on White Night’s social channels.
The Ballarat Information Centre at the Ballarat Town Hall will be open until 10pm.
Will the roads in the event precinct be closed?
Yes, the roads in the event precinct will be closed to vehicles.

Where can I get food and drink at White Night?
White Night Bites will see a myriad of culinary experiences spanning Sturt, Lydiard, Armstrong, Camp, Mair and Doveton streets.
Food trucks will also line a section of Doveton St Nth, dishing up flavours from around the world.

Can I consume alcohol at the event?
No, White Night is an alcohol-free event. However, many of Ballarat’s restaurants and bars will be open for business.
Will there be toilets available?
Yes, in addition to all City of Ballarat facilities which will be open for the duration of the event, there will be extra port-a-loos on site.

The City of Ballarat’s mobility map provides information about accessible toilets in the CBD. Parent facilities also available in the accessible toilets.
Where will the first aid station be located?
First aid will be located on the corner of Doveton St Sth and Sturt St, plus the corner of Mair St West and Armstrong St Nth.
