Learn the traditional basketry technique of twining with Jodie Goldring at Ballarat’s Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades.
Learn how to use natural materials to make a small basket using the traditional basketry technique of twining.
Twining is the twisting of two strands of flexible material around a vertical support. This technique creates strong surfaces and adds stability to baskets.
Participants will learn how to create a rolled rim to complete the basket.
Materials such as red-hot poker, cordyline, dietes iris and/or and flax will be provided as well as information about how to collect, dry and prepare materials.
