Tegan Crosbie: Not So Baddie.

‘Not a Baddie’ is a reference to the ‘Bad Banksia men’ characters found lurking in the Australian illustrator and artist May Gibbs’ children stories. In her 1920’s tales The ‘Bad Banksia’ men are portrayed as evil, ugly kidnapping villains.

This body of work depicts Banksia cones as a bright, sculptural, and colourful organic objects. Exploring the notion that the humble Banksia cone has just been misunderstood and been given a bad reputation.
