Sheilas: Feeling good

SHEILAS is a group of female artists of Ballarat who exhibit together. Their latest exhibition is inspired by The Handmaid’s Tale, Margaret Atwood’s dystopian vision of the future. The titles refers to Nina Simone’s powerful 1965 rendition of the song Feeling Good which forms the musical backdrop to a critical scene of female courage and solidarity in the television adaptation of the novel.

The exhibition brings together 52 artists who each bring a wide range of age, experience and artistic practice to this venture, working collaboratively in inclusive, supportive small groups. The result is a thoughtful and diverse exhibition celebrating the moral and creative strength of women working together towards a common goal – trust.
