Queer Goldfields History Tour

Let Thomas, co-host of the very popular podcast Tales from Rat City, give you a glimpse of what life would have been like for LGBTIQA+ residents of the Goldfields area in days gone by.

Wander some of Ballarat’s best-known streets and discover some new insights into our wonderful historical town.

Cannot make it on the walk? Check out our banner display of Ballarat’s Queer History exhibited in the foyer at Ballarat Community Health, Lucas, from 7 – 13 November.

This will be a sensory-friendly event with no loud music or flashing lights and wheelchair accessible (though often hilly).

Mature Themes, parental guidance recommended for those under 15.

The Ballarat Frolic Festival is an annual pride celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) regional arts and culture. It runs for a full week and has plenty of events for everyone – all welcome.

The event envisage an inclusive Ballarat and surrounds where LGBTIQA+ people feel safe, connected, and proud; the broader community is welcoming; and contributions to art, culture, and the community are celebrated.
