“This exhibition has taken 12 months of constant studio and out in the bush work, combined with my 50 plus years since becoming professional. Colour and tone has always guided my feeling of Australian landscape.
Living mainly in Victoria and also W.A. and QLD, plus travelling and working in all states has left my creative palette simple, yet strong. Miniature paintings have always been a favourite, however it is only the last several years where I felt comfortable with this work.
I have no tricks. I see the landscape, I feel it and I have lived and worked in it. This last year I have developed what I call my “IN YOUR FACE” feel. The landscape becomes intimately close. I was 26 years old at my first exhibition. Most of my fellow artists were in their 30’s, even 40’s – some much older. I am genuinely pleased to still do what I do and have had the pleasure of their company and being and seeing a world unknown to me previously.” – Mal Gilmour.
