Callum Morton: Monument #32: Helter Shelter

If you want to get inside Trump’s head prior to the United States election, get yourself down to Alfred Deakin Place and take a place in the Helter Shelter.
Monument #32: Helter Shelter by Callum Morton is a piece of temporary architecture – a shelter rendered in the form of an emergent head of Donald Trump, hollowed-out and replete with inferno flames and bench seating.
Callum Morton is Professor of Fine Art at Monash University. His art explores the personal and social impact of architecture and our built environment, provoking us to think about the relationship between art and life, history and the present, and look again at the ubiquitous structures we see but rarely notice
The workis being in Alfred Deakin Place as a joint project between the Art Gallery of Ballarat and the City of Ballarat’s Creative City team.
