Ballarat Winter Festival – The Art of Storytelling – Songcraft

https://cms.visitballarat.com.au/app/uploads/2021/05/60ac39ad4bd342822f9db7e8.jpeg

Ballarat musicians Justin ‘Hap’ Hayward (The Dead Salesmen) and Brodie Glen (The Brodie Glen Show, The Shorts) join us this winter at Eureka Centre to share their incredible knowledge of song writing through our Songcraft drop-in activity.

Best known as the lead singer and lyricist of The Dead Salesmen, Justin believes that kids can be some of the best lyricists: “A good line is the equivalent to a good musical riff and kids come up with them all the time.”

Justin and Brodie will take up the challenge of creating a song out of lyrics you contribute. You can suggest a word or phrase that you feel fits the theme of The Eureka Flag. Drop-in to the Eureka Centre to make your contribution to the song between Saturday 26 June – Friday 2 July, 10am to 5pm.

Justin and Brodie will then write the song and you can tune in to their performance on our Facebook live stream on Wednesday 7 July at 11.45am, presented as part our pint-sized percussion workshop.

If you can’t make it into the centre, follow Justin and Brodie’s progress and make your contribution via the Facebook page.
