Step back in time at Rock Ballarat
Celebrate everything rock 'n' roll and rockabilly at Rock Ballarat this February.
The 7-9 February festival will feature live music, fashion parades, classic cars, burlesque dance demonstrations, pin-up competitions and the return of Ballarat's favorite street party.
On Friday's opening night, dress in your Hawaiian finest, enjoy a mai tai, play some games and dance the night away at the Tiki Party at the Ballarat Mining Exchange from 6pm. This will be followed by a night of surf rock, rockabilly and psychobilly with bands Shell Yeah! and Wild Turkey from 7.30pm.
On both Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm, you can head along to Civic Hall for a rock 'n' roll dance with live music from The Lincolns and A Band Called Twang.
Saturday night will also see some of the biggest names in Australian burlesque perform in The Gold Dust Grande Burlesque Extravaganza at the Ballarat Mining Exchange from 8pm.
During daylight hours, sign up for rock 'n' roll dance lessons with Andrew Camp and Alicia Hermens at Civic Hall. Both beginner/intermediate and advanced classes will be available.
The festival's free street party will see Armstrong Street North (between Sturt and Mair streets) come to life on Saturday and Sunday with a show and shine vintage car display, fashion, trade stalls, food, live music and a night market.
A major drawcard will be Saturday's Rock Ballarat Pinup Competition at the Ballarat Mining Exchange at 12pm. Hosted by Lana-Rose Fashion, the event has four categories – Couple-a-billy's, Geek-a-billy, Psycho-billy and Rock-a-billy.
And fashion lovers will be in heaven at Sunday's 2020 Best Dressed Competition at the Ballarat Mining Exchange at 11.30am. The event will be hosted by Miss Cherry La Blaze, the 2019 winner of Miss Ballarat Beat Pinup.
Rock Ballarat will come to an end at the Sunday Night Party with music, dancing and loads of fun at the Ballarat Mining Exchange.
