History will come to life during the annual Ballarat Heritage Weekend this May.
The May 25-26 event will be a mix of new events and experiences along with returning crowd favourites.
On Saturday from 5.30pm, the Aboriginal Short Film Festival will showcase a range of films and documentaries highlighting Aboriginal cultural heritage, shared history and social justice. There will also be a range of informative and engaging discussions.
Back again this year is globetrotting fashion anthropologist Charlotte Smith and a selection of vintage fashion from her acclaimed private collection.
Sparkling outfits from the 1920s will add to the electric energy of the catwalk at Civic Hall when the Sydney Swing Katz perform Gatsby dance classics like the Charleston and the Foxtrot.
Adam Mada’s magic show will add a bit of Bond sophistication when cocktails flow and a parade of 1960s jewel-encrusted hostess gowns bewitch at Saturday’s Coffee Exchange by Mr Black.
And not to be missed are annual favourites including vintage steam train and horse & carriage rides, the Ballarat Lifestyle Magazine Tweed Ride, and Ballarat’s Beard & Stache Competition.
