After just eight months in business, The Provincial Hotel has been named Victoria’s best boutique style accommodation.
The Ballarat hotel was awarded the accolade at the 2019 Tourism Accommodation Australia (Victoria) Awards for Excellence in Melbourne last month.
It was up against the likes of the Mornington Peninsula’s Jackalope Hotel, Dunkeld’s Royal Mail Hotel and Melbourne’s Lyall Hotel and Spa.
Ballarat power couple Simon and Gorgi Coghlan partnered with hospitality guru Drew Harry to open The Provincial Hotel in November last year after identifying a market for luxury, boutique accommodation in the city.
Each of the historic building’s 23 suites is uniquely styled in a mix of bespoke antique, modern and custom pieces.
“I had a really clear vision of what I wanted for the hotel rooms — stunning playful fabrics, bespoke upholstered furniture and a mix of contemporary and classic artworks,” said Gorgi, an Australian television presenter who can be regularly seen on The Project.
“Genevieve Manley helped bring the vision to life and I’m so proud of what we’ve created. Every single room is uniquely beautiful with its own story to tell, reflected through the furniture I’ve collected from antique shops in Ballarat.”
