Preparations continue for 2020 Royal South Street Eisteddfod

Ballarat's Royal South Street Society is still working towards hosting its annual eisteddfod in the second half of 2020.

At this stage, Australia's largest and longest-running eisteddfod is scheduled to begin on 19 July with Celebrating Chopin and conclude on 31 October following the month-long Australian Calisthenics Competition.

"We understand the challenges we all face this year with COVID-19, however we feel passionate about trying to deliver an eisteddfod that celebrates the performing arts and enriches all our competitors, coaches, volunteers and our communities at this time," RSSS business manager Tony Rowlands said.

"It's during these challenging times that we need the arts to give us hope, inspiration and community spirit."

Mr Rowlands said the health and safety of competitors, audience members, volunteers and staff would remain the society's number one priority.

2020 RSSS entries have been extended until Friday 29 May.
