New event to light up Ballarat this winter

A spectacular light show and hot air balloon glow will form part of the first-ever Ballarat Lights Up The Night this winter.

The family-friendly event will be held at the Ballarat Showgrounds on Friday 12 June from 4pm.

Festivities will include:

  • a night market offering some of Australia’s best food and dessert trucks plus an on-site bar
  • retail stalls
  • live musical performances and roving entertainment
  • face painting and jumping castles

At 8pm, the main event will be the choreographed light show and balloon glow, where tethered hot air balloons will rise in the air and light up the sky with their gas burners.

Event-goers are encouraged to get their glow on with lanterns, glow-in-the-dark t-shirts, glasses, headbands and other glow items available for purchase.

Similar events have previously been held in New South Wales and Queensland.

Tickets are adult $20, children under 13 $5, and family $45 (two adults and two children), and can be purchased online here.
