A-League football is coming to Ballarat

A-League stars from around the world will bring top class football to Ballarat later this month.

On Saturday 28 December, the city's adopted team, Western United, will go head to head with Wellington Phoenix at Mars Stadium in round 12 of the 2019/20 Hyundai A-League season.

After two friendly games in Ballarat, this will be Western United's first competitive match for points in the city.

The club's skillful Italian international Alessandro Diamanti has been hailed as one of the best players in the league this season.

Alongside the United captain is another big name foreign player in Greek international Panagiotis Kone, who represented his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Western United also has A-League legend Besart Berisha in its ranks. The former Melbourne Victory hero has been scoring goals galore in the green and black after joining earlier this season.

Wellington Phoenix isn't short of a star either, with former England international and English Premier League star Steven Taylor part of the team.

The visitors will be hoping to gain revenge on United following their first round loss to the green and black in New Zealand.

The 28 December match will begin at Mars Stadium at 5pm (gates open at 4pm). Tickets via Ticketek.
