Australia’s best knights will go into battle to determine who reigns supreme at Kryal Castle’s Keith Ryall Memorial Jousting Tournament this May.
The annual Ballarat tournament is set for Saturday 15 May and Sunday 16 May at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
“This is no ordinary event at the castle – instead of seeing two knights jousting (still a spectacular sight!), you’ll see a whole tournament of knights,” Kryal Castle’s jousting world champion Phillip Leitch said.
“The energy and the sheer focus and exertion of the knights and war horses, as well as the excitement of the crowd, leaves a lasting impression.”
A special ancient cavalry skill at arms demonstration will be also given by expert historical horseman Rod Walker using 4thC BC Scythian armour and equipment.
Kryal Castle was a dream realised by founder Keith Ryall when he opened the tourist attraction 47 years ago.
A year after Keith’s passing in 2015, the knights of the castle held the first Keith Ryall Memorial Jousting Tournament in his memory.
Kryal Castle is open every weekend from 10am to 4pm.
Regular ticketing applies for the tournament (adult $35, family $99, single family $79, concession $28).
