Roll out the red carpet for your Mum on Sunday, May 12, for Mother’s Day in Ballarat.

Treat your Mum Bakery Workshop for Kids at 1816
Make this Mother’s Day really special by sending your kids along to make scones and muffins with 1816 head baker Josh Chapman and his team. Part of Plate Up Ballarat, the workshop will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 11.30am (the 10am session has already sold out). Cost is $24 plus booking fee and includes morning tea plus treats to take home for Mum. Suitable for ages five to 14.

Mother’s Day Classic
A national community-based event, the Mother’s Day Classic raises funds for breast cancer research. The Ballarat event will be held on Sunday, May 12, at Lake Wendouree from 9am. The 6km walk plus 6km and 12km run will leave from Windmill Drive (opposite the adventure playground). 

Brunch at Mercure Ballarat
Enjoy a delicious array of breakfast savouries, sweet treats, live cooking stations, barista coffee and sparkling wine at Mercure Ballarat. To top it all off, there will be a dedicated play area for the kids with face painting, cookie decorating and games. Brunch sessions will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 9am-10.30am and 12pm-1.30pm. Cost is adult $55, child (5-16 years) $25, and children under 5 free. 

Bottomless brunch at Moon & Mountain
Make the most of your Sunday with Mum at Moon & Mountain’s Bottomless Brunch. For $65 per person, enjoy the restaurant’s signature yum cha-style lunch range and cocktail jugs between 11.30am and 2.30pm. 

Brunch or lunch at Mr Jones
Spoil Mum with brunch or lunch at Mr Jones on Sunday, May 12. The Asian menu sampler is $49 per adult and $20 per child (12 and under).

Lunch at Billy’s Bistro & Bar
Get Mum out of the kitchen and into Billy’s Bistro & Bar at Mercure Ballarat this Sunday, May 12, between 12pm and 3pm. For $75 per person, sit down for a three-course lunch and a glass of sparkling on arrival.

Lunch at Housey Housey
Eat, drink and play at Housey Housey this Sunday, May 12. From midday, enjoy a delicious two-course shared menu, local wine and drinks available for purchase, plus a kids’ corner. Adult $65 and child (3-12 years) $20-$30.  

Mother’s Day Races at the Ballarat Turf Club
For the Mum who likesa day at the races, take her to the Ballarat Turf Club this Sunday, May 12, from 11.30am. For $45 per adult or $15 per child, you get entry to the course, a race book, two-course lunch and a free drink. The kids will be kept entertained with a cubby house photo booth, pedal go-karts and mini golf. 

High tea at Craig’s Royal Hotel
How about celebrating Mother’s Day with Craig’s Royal Hotel’s famous high tea? Sip a tea, coffee or a glass of sparkling accompanied by classic finger sandwiches, savouries, scones and the most luscious petit fours, all made in-house. Then uncover the hidden beauty of the hotel with a guided tour. Two seatings will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 11am and 3pm.

High tea at Narmbool
Relax in the tranquil surrounds of Narmbool’s Garden Room while enjoying a fine selection of savouries and sweets accompanied by a refreshing beverage. Think miniature savoury tarts, orange white chocolate mousse with toffee shard, and chocolate brownies with cream and berries. High tea sessions will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 11am and 2pm plus Sunday, May 12, at 1pm and 4pm. Cost is adult $59.50 and children (3-12 years) $30.

High tea at the Lydiard Wine Bar
The beautifully restored Lydiard Wine Bar features Venetian chandeliers, elaborate gold trimmings and a baby grand piano. Enjoy high tea on Sunday, May 12, between 12.30pm and 2.30pm for $55 per person. 

Bathe & Graze at Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa
Every weekend in May at Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa, you and your Mum can soak your stresses away at The Sanctuary (hydrotherapy and sauna) then indulge in a local produce board and wine in the lounge for $47.50 per person.

Treat that special lady in your life with Sovereign Hill’s new Mother’s Day raspberry drops. Choose from four customised jars: Best Mum, Nana, Grandma and No. 1 Mum. The 445g jars are available through the Sovereign Hill website or at its Central Square pop-up shop (May 3-11).
