Ballarat's new program of activities for 26 January
The City of Ballarat will host a new program of activities on 26 January from 2021.
The Survival Day Dawn Ceremony and citizenship ceremonies are planned for Tuesday 26 January, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
And from 2022, a new intercultural community event will be held on the day to promote understanding, respect and reconciliation.
It will feature live music, performances and the profiling of Indigenous culture.
Following a decision of Council at an ordinary meeting earlier this month, the fireworks previously held on 26 January will be now held on another significant day or as part of another public event.
Options that will be considered include New Year’s Eve and the Ballarat Begonia Festival.
