Ballarat’s favourite winter festival is now online

The new Ballarat Virtual Winter Fest highlights all of the best elements of Ballarat in winter through an online platform, allowing you to plan your trip from the comfort of home before you head out and explore the city for yourself.

Visit the website between 27 June and 19 July and tour the interactive map featuring a selection of Ballarat's key buildings, attractions and landmarks in animated form.

You will also have the opportunity to play five bespoke games, download Ballarat-based activities and discover winter-specific promotions and offerings from Ballarat businesses.

And this will all happen with the help and guidance of Ballarat's new winter characters, the Yarrowees.

Bunni, Kurran, Welcome Wally and Betul Begonia are the secret to how the good people of Ballarat find warmth and comfort throughout the chilly Ballarat winters. Emerging in winter to secretly care for the people of Ballarat, each of the Yarrowees reveal a special kind of magic.

The City of Ballarat has partnered with local tourist attractions such as the Ballarat Wildlife Park, Sovereign Hill and Kryal Castle to create the Ballarat Virtual Winter Fest.

“We are so looking forward to visitors returning, in restricted numbers, to our tourist attractions, accommodation providers and local businesses these school holidays, but for those families who can’t make it to Ballarat this year, there’s a little bit of magic and fun to be found online,” Ballarat Mayor Cr Ben Taylor said.
