Ballarat Wildlife Park and Kryal Castle reopen to regional Victorians

The Ballarat Wildlife Park and Kryal Castle have reopened to locals and regional Victorians, just in time for the spring school holidays.

Owned and operated by the Parker family, the Ballarat Wildlife Park is celebrating the milestone with discounted tickets

Standard entry tickets are reduced by 10 per cent, with visitors required to present photo ID with a current address at the ticket office.

In line with Victorian Government regulations, face coverings must be worn at the park and groups are limited to 10 people.

To protect the health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers, the tourist attraction has developed a comprehensive COVIDSafe plan which includes:

  • increased sanitisation efforts, including sanitiser dispensers
  • physical distancing measures
  • the closure of (or reduced access to) some areas
  • a takeaway-only service at its cafe

The reptile house and indoor crocodile exhibits are closed until further notice, however visitors can still see the alligators, komodo dragon and other reptiles in the outdoor exhibits

"We will continue to revisit our plans and update accordingly with changes to government guidelines. Please check our website before you visit to ensure you know what to expect at that time," the park said.

Located on the corner of York and Fussell streets, the Ballarat Wildlife Park is open daily between 9am and 5pm.

Meanwhile, Kryal Castle is open to locals and regional Victorians the following days during the Victorian school holidays:

  • Saturday 19 September – Monday 21 September
  • Friday 25 September – Monday 28 September
  • Friday 2 October – Sunday 4 October

The medieval tourist attraction will then operate every weekend from 10 October.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Kryal Castle's indoor attractions remain closed, however outdoor activities include archery, axe throwing, knights school, street theatre, skill at arms and the royal joust.

Face masks are required unless a valid exemption is provided and groups are limited to 10 people.

Tickets must be pre-purchased online, with all visitors required to present photo ID.
