A Ballarat day spa has been crowned Australia’s best of the best – not once, not twice but three times.

Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa snapped up three awards at the 2019 World Luxury Spa Awards in Russia on 6 July:

  • Best Luxury Day Spa (Australia)
  • Best Luxury Hotel Spa (Australia)
  • Best Luxury Spa Retreat (Australia & Oceania)

Established in 2010, the World Luxury Spa Awards is an established global organisation providing luxury spas with recognition for their world-class facilities and service excellence.

Each year during a four-week period, more than 250,000 international travelers vote to select the award winners.

Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa’s brand new purpose-built facility is located within the serene gardens of Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre.

It features six luxury treatment rooms (including two dual suites), private bathing, a floating pedicure lounge, The Sanctuary with a sauna and heated hydrotherapy pool, plus a relaxation lounge complete with an open fireplace.

“To be recognised amongst the world’s best is an absolute honour,” day spa director Sarah Emmanuel said.

“When I took over the business nearly 10 years ago, I had a dream to create something spectacular, drawing inspiration from the many resort spas I had worked in around Australia.”

“I would not be where I am today without the support of Bentley Property Group and their belief in the importance of spa. I would also like to thank my incredible team of therapists and our amazing clients for their support. I am absolutely honoured to receive these awards and it feels pretty great to put Ballarat on the world map for luxury spa.”

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
