Located a casual half hour drive from Ballarat, Tuki provides visitors with a serene escape from city life, combining fine dining with quaint cottage accommodation and the chance to soak up all that the region’s natural wonders have to offer.
Owned by Robert and Jan Jones, the retreat brings together the beauty of the surrounding farmland to create a unique country stay.
“We have run Tuki for 33 years, drawing upon the resources of the farm, its spring water, delightful views and wide open spaces,” Jan says.
“We love being on the farm and sharing our space with our guests. City folk are now more removed from nature than ever and we feel they appreciate the time to reconnect.”
The concept of Tuki began in 1985, when the farm was first open to guests as a trout fishing venue.
“The fishing activity provides a hunter gatherer experience and the chance for some family bonding, and children are very proud when they can brag that they caught the trout for the family meal!” Jan exclaims.
But trout fishing is only one part of the Tuki offering. The farm provides guests with a true paddock-to-plate experience, showcasing homegrown native pasture-fed lamb and produce, as well as some of the region’s most-loved local producers. The venue’s wine list also boasts a huge selection of Victorian wine and an eclectic range of local hand-crafted beer.
Then there’s the retreat, so you can fish amidst the stunning surrounds, wine and dine in style, and then take comfort in the attraction’s charming cottages.
“Tuki Retreat is our hand-crafted cottage accommodation, featuring open fires, panoramic views and an opportunity to soak up the broad outlook,” Jan says.
“The cottages are self contained but breakfast, lunch and dinner are also available.
“We hope our guests return home relaxed and invigorated and having enjoyed some time reconnecting.”
