Secondhand shopping has never been more popular.

And we get it! Why settle for something from a catalogue when you can take home a one-off goodie that will have your house guests wondering where you found it.

To help you in your search for your next secondhand showstopper, we’ve put together a list of 15 of our favourite places to look for vintage clothing, jewellery, antique furniture, books and records.

Renew your obsession with the old and unusual at Antik. From collectables and vintage industrial pieces to jewellery and military history, you’re bound to leave this popular corner shop with full hands.

If you’re driving from Melbourne, then you’re going to want to stop at The Amazing Mill Market on your way into Ballarat. Located just off the Western Highway at Warrenheip, you can quite easily spend hours wondering the 80 stalls here. But the good news is you can stop for lunch or a coffee at the on-site cafe.

The two friends behind Rocket and Belle travel the countryside searching for the unique, old and unusual to sell at their Mair Street shed. You can unearth their discoveries every Friday and Saturday between 11am-4pm.

If it’s Australian furniture you’re looking for then you’re going to want to stop by Lydiard Furniture and Antiques.

Vintage farmhouse pieces and gardenalia line the shelves at Vintage 216 in Skipton Street, and you’ll find plenty of retro and antique furniture and restoration products at Antique Effects on Urqhart Street and Antiques Ballarat on Main Road.

Just a short drive out of town and you’ll find 44 On Brooke in Smythesdale and Beaufort’s Big Garage Sale

For those looking for their next statement wardrobe piece, you’re going to want to spend some time checking out Hats in the AtticWord from the Bird and Hattie’s Wardrobe Green for pre-loved clothes.

Book lovers will love the treasure trove of secondhand books at Minerva’s Books. And for those who prefer to let their imagination run wild as they read an old comic, you’ll find a good selection of pre-loved comics at Ballarat’s Heroes HQ.

When it comes to a revival in pre-loved goods, there’s one that has certainly exploded over the last few years – vinyl. Take your time to flick through old vinyl at Rediscovery Ballarat
