    This modern Asian eatery and bar with an Australian twist will have you begging for more. 

    In 2018, Moon and Mountain executive chef Liam Downes won the Golden Plate Award for best chef, with judges saying he has "all the credentials to lead the way in putting Ballarat firmly on the food map of regional Victoria".

    Breakfast at Fika

    Start your weekend in Ballarat the right way with a delicious and comforting breakfast.

    Fika is popular among the locals, the coffee is great and the meals always hit the spot. Try the avocado on toast, eggs benedict with 12-hour slow-cooked pork belly or their hotcakes served with maple syrup, bacon and fried eggs.

    Adi Nes Soldiers Exhibit

    Part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale, these highly stylized and provocative photographs focus on the intermediary moments between privacy and intimacy within the rigid framework of military life. Stop by the Post Office Gallery to check them out.

    Lunch at Kittelty's

    Nestled in the Art Gallery of Ballarat is Kittelty's — a warm and cosy cafe which is perfect to snuggle up in and enjoy a wholesome meal.

    The food is handmade daily with ingredients sourced predominantly from Ballarat and surrounds. Once you've enjoyed a soul-warming meal, we recommend sharing a sweet treat. The lemon meringue pie is scrumptious!

    Liu Bolin - Artist Talk

    Listen to Ballarat International Foto Biennale headline artist Liu Bolin discuss his career of almost two decades, from his best-known Hiding in the City series to the present day.

    Liu Bolin - Camouflage

    Liu Bolin's exhibition aims to demonstrate how the strategy of camouflage has allowed him to produce images which resonate globally with viewers across time and place.

    Dinner at Lola

    Part of The Provincial Hotel, Lola offers stylish, European-inspired dining, beautifully shaped each season by the region’s best locally-sourced produce.

    Owned and operated by Australian media personality Gorgi Coghlan and her husband Simon, the 55-seat dining room provides a relaxed and elegant foodie experience.

    Bauhaus Foto Exhibit

    Pay a visit to another prominent exhibit as part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale, Bauhaus Foto. Featuring photographic artists from Australia, Germany and Ireland whose contemporary practice shows signs of Bauhaus influence.

    Day 3

    National Centre for Photography

    Built in 1864, Ballarat's former Union Bank is currently transitioning into its new life as Australia’s only regional gallery dedicated exclusively to photography.

    The National Centre for Photography is an extension of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. Once fully realised, it will house three galleries, a photo book library, workshops, a traditional black and white darkroom, and artist-in-residence apartments.

    Lunch at Mitchell Harris Wine Bar

    Step inside this refurbished 1870s produce store and workshop and experience the great wines and stories of Western Victoria at this industrial cool cellar door and wine bar.

    Cosy up by the fire or soak up the sun with a glass or two of wine matched with the best of the region’s produce, from bar snacks and shared plates to a full dining experience.
