Sam’s Place Duck In is well known for its fresh food made on premises. With access to a veggie garden and a stocked fridge and pantry, the cook/owner says, ‘if we’ve got it, we’ll make it for you’. Oh, and the freshly brewed local coffee is to die for.

They have an all-day breakfast menu. The steak sandwich and ‘hamburger with the lot’ are a visual and taste sensation. It is hard to walk past the fresh homemade slices and cakes.

After parking your car or van in the shaded middle strip of Avoca or in the street, decide where to sit. Inside or out? If outside is for you, you can sit out the front of the café or out the back. The back boasts a lovely garden courtyard. It’s comfy for all, including small groups of friends/family. Dogs are welcome. Or, you could get takeaway and sit in a rotunda across the road.

If you sit inside and if it is cold, the fireplace will be happening. There is the bonus of watching the cooks do their thing. The staff are so friendly. So go on, duck in.
