Beaufort Motel is Beaufort’s only motel. Family run, it houses Australia’s largest collection of decorated eggs, the ‘Imperial Egg Gallery’ and Tea Rooms.
The motel has ten spotless rooms. Beds are comfy. Each room has a full-size fridge, split-system air conditioner, television, microwave, toaster, free Wi-Fi and a double shower. Electric bikes and metal detectors are available for hire.
The Gallery houses Australia’s oldest Aboriginal carved colonial emu egg. Dated 1870, it is sought after by the National Gallery. This global collection includes decorated eggs from sharks, doves, quails, ostriches, and crocodiles. Inspired by her Father’s war letters, Margaret gained comfort from looking at the pictures on eggs, so started the collection.
The car park is huge, it accommodates vans, trailers, and trucks. Parking is free and you can park your car outside your door. There is a shaded barbecue area.
There is an outside landscaped area with a fire pit, aviary, and a Muslim praying area.
Regulars love the owners, Peter (Margaret’s son) and Edis, ‘This is their house. They want to share it with you. Come and stay’.
