Just north of Ballarat, you’ll come across a small town with a big claim to fame – it’s the home to Victoria’s oldest pub, the Swiss Mountain Hotel, built in 1865 and continuously operating since.
 
Wander through the gardens at Overwrought Gallery and Sculpture Garden, drive through the countryside and discover small wineries and farm gates, get lost at the Maze House, or have a delicious lunch from produce grown on local properties.

Blampied is a quaint hamlet set in rolling countryside on the Ballarat-Daylesford Road, 35 kilometres northeast of Ballarat. Its 1865 Swiss Mountain Hotel is said to be Victoria's oldest continually licensed hotel however it is currently closed while undergoing restoration. Drive around the area and discover boutique wineries and produce in the green rolling hills such as Captain's Creek Organic Wines, where an inviting cellar door offers delicious lunches,  organic wine and cider tastings, regional beers, hand made local cheeses and seasonal farm-fresh produce.
