Celebrate those golden summers of childhood past with these chilly milkshakes.
This summer, a swag of Ballarat's cafes, bars and restaurants are making simply slurpable milkshakes using their own special recipes.
Try one or tick off as many as you can during January and February in venues around the city.
Homegrown strawberry milkshake
Hydrant Food Hall, 3 McKenzie Street, Ballarat
A thick and delicious pink drink (pictured above) made with all natural ingredients. The ripest summer berries, picked from a local farm, are macerated and cooked with cane sugar and then blended with fresh milk and vanilla ice cream.

Elevating milkshakes to the ultimate authentic Italian flavours with Carboni's famous Sicilian cannoli.

Espresso martini milkshake

There's no need to wait until after hours to enjoy your espresso martini – it's 5pm somewhere in the world! Between 7am and 4pm, enjoy this adults-only milkshake of rich espresso coffee, ice cream and milk finished with a shot of Kahlua and a chocolate wafer straw.

Your kids are going to love this delightful strawberry fairy floss milkshake. The Flying Horse is also running its 'kids eat free' promotion with any adult meal purchased throughout the school holidays (T&C's apply).
Choc honeycomb milkshake
Europa Cafe, 411 Sturt Street, Ballarat
This magnificent milkshake (pictured above) is made with Backyard Beekeeping Ballarat honey sourced from local messmate forest and Il Piccolo chocolate gelato blended with fresh milk. It is served with a floating extra scoop of chocolate gelato and topped with crushed honeycomb.
Chai latte milkshake
Vegas & Rose's little pink door in Brown Hill (closed until 29 January)
If you like chai and milkshakes, you are going to love the Vegas & Rose's milkshake – a thick and chilled version of chai latte made with Grounded Pleasures' Seven Sri Lankan Spice Chai. Finding Vegas & Rose is a fun adventure in itself as it is hidden behind a pink door at an old weatherboard house.
Dairy-free raspberry cheesecake shake

This dairy-free healthy "milkshake" (pictured above) is better than any cheesecake you’ve ever eaten and made from only fresh, local, wholesome ingredients.
Shake and hot dog combo
Ballarat Wildlife Park, corner of York and Fussell streets, Ballarat
$9 shake and hot dog combo. Choose from 11 different shake flavours – lime, bubblegum, mint, chocolate, blue heaven, strawberry, vanilla, caramel, banana, mango and honeycomb. Also on offer is a $9 tiger donut and smoothie combo.
Heavenly delight vanilla porter milkshake
Hop Temple, 24-28 Armstrong Street North, Ballarat
A perfect play on the beer floater, this adults-only drink (pictured above) sees a good pour of Aunty Jacks' 4.8% vanilla porter topped with a heavenly scoop of ll Piccolo's vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, a Corinthians chocolate wafer straw and finished with chocolate sprinkles.
Swiss mountain malt
The Pancake Kitchen, 2 Grenville Street South, Ballarat
A pint of enormous amounts of vanilla ice cream, milk and malt with your choice of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, lime, blue heaven, caramel, banana, salted caramel or espresso. Vegan option available.

This milkshake is one for the adults! Blue curacao, banana liqueur and Bailey's mixed with milk and ice cream and topped with fairy floss.

Made the good old fashioned way with vanilla ice cream, milk and flavoured topping of your choice. Available in full cream, light milk, soy or almond.
Johnny Alloo, 32 Drummond Street North, Ballarat
You've heard of the Biscoff, Belgium's favourite biscuit that became a breakfast spread? Well, Johnny Alloo has taken the classic caramelised spread and blended it with fresh milk, vanilla ice cream and topped it with a Biscoff biscuit (pictured above). A milkshake unique to Johnny Alloo.

Your choice of vanilla, strawberry or blue heaven milkshake, ice cream, whipped cream and topped with rainbow delights.
Naughty or nice frappuccino

If you choose nice, you'll get a coffee or chocolate-based frappuccino topped with whipped cream. But if you choose naughty, you'll also get some vodka, Baileys and Kahlua!
