Ballarat Bird World is a must see tourist attraction, 7 minutes from Sovereign Hill. It is set on 14 acres of natural bushland and contains waterfalls, a large range of native plants and trees and a beautiful rainforest, all accessible by one kilometer of raised walkway.

Over 200 colorful parrots and cockatoos are on display at the Park in sixty spacious enclosures and a large freeflight aviary where you can walk amongst the birds in the natural environment.

Some of the varieties of cockatoos you will see include the Major Mitchell cockatoos, red, white and yellow tailed black cockatoos, sulphur crested cockatoos, gang gangs, galahs and corellas. Many Australian birds rarely seen in the wild like the Northern Territory golden shouldered parrot or the Cape York Eclectus parrot are also on display.

The native gardens contain many of Australia’s unique plant life like the Western Australia Hakea Victorae (Lantern Hakea) not normally seen in the average household garden.

The indoor/outdoor Cafe provides for light lunches, morning and afternoon teas. The outdoor deck area is most popular during the warmer months where you can sit with the native birds at your leisure.
