Tourism Hospitality Kits
Improving tourism stays for people who are deaf or hard of hearing There are five Tourism Hospitality Kits available within the Grampians region. They are located in Tourism Information Centres in Ballarat, Daylesford, Avoca, Halls Gap and Horsham.
What is a Tourism Hospitality Kit?
The aim of the Tourism Hospitality kits is to increase the comfort and safety of people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The support of local Visitor Information Services allows the equipment to be loaned out across the region.
The kit comprises equipment to assist Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to hear and watch TV and radio with increased volume, to respond to a doorbell or to a knock at the door, to respond to an alarm by way of a shaking or vibrating clock, and to be able to answer a telephone and use a TTY phone. The TTY phone can be used by hearing people as a standard phone, or by Deaf or Hard of Hearing people through the National Relay Service on 133 677 to enable easy communication. (The National Relay Service is a phone solution for people who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment. For information visit www.relayservice .com.au.)
